Lot 1 Central Area. The contract requires the supplier to provide a fully comprehensive lift service to the University. This includes the regular planned preventative maintenance, 24 hour breakdown response and all repairs to the lifts to keep them operating in a safe and reliable condition. The repairs include any defects that are reported within the LOLER Thorough Examinations and those identified during Maintenance Evaluation Audits by our Lift Consultants.
Lot 2 Peripheral Area. The contract requires the supplier to provide a fully comprehensive lift service to the University. This includes the regular planned preventative maintenance, 24 hour breakdown response and all repairs to the lifts to keep them operating in a safe and reliable condition. VII.2)Information about modifications
VII.2.1)Description of the modifications
Nature and extent of the modifications (with indication of possible earlier changes to the contract):
The University of Edinburgh modifies and extends the contracts under Regulation 72(c):
(i) the need for modification has been brought about by circumstances which a diligent contracting authority could not have foreseen (see VII.2.2)
(ii) the modification does not alter the overall nature of the contract or framework; and
(iii) any increase in price does not exceed 50 % of the initial contract value or framework agreement (see VII.2.3).

Description of the circumstances which rendered the modification necessary and explanation of the unforeseen nature of these circumstances:
The University of Edinburgh is now due to launch the new finance services part in their People and Money system in August 2022. As the system will be closed down for a period and resource will be impacted it is not be feasible to procure and mobilise new contracts. As this contract is business critical, the modification ensures that the University portfolio of lift installations are operating safely and are fully compliant to all regulatory requirements. The modification does not alter the overall nature of the contract and the increase in price does not exceed 50% of the initial contract value.
